The Intersection of Indigenous Knowledge and Western Science for Species at Risk and Endemics
Lead: University of Alberta
The goal of this two-year project is to investigate the ways in which Indigenous and western scientific knowledge can intersect to inform conservation planning, guided by two-eyed seeing. This project will be respectful of previously gathered Traditional Knowledge (TK) and will use interviews and mapping already completed to help inform project outcomes. The outcomes of the project must help preserve and communicate TK and have benefits to TK holders involved. The intent is that this research will be an act of respect, sharing, and reciprocity between all parties involved; and respect, sharing and reciprocity will be practiced at every stage of research.
